2 Of My Favorite Photos From This Year.
Overall Experience
This class has been terrific this year. The opportunity to have a teacher as a close friend was amazing. Last year in the intro-to filming class, I had a goal to know a little bit more about after Effects. That goal was accomplished. Even though we learned stuff in after effects that I will probably never use, it was still really cool to be able to understand how it all works. When i first entered the Filming class in 11th grade, I did not know much about filming. But these past 2 years have really opened up my mind to all of the creativity that I acquire. I am now able to throw out ideas about creative films and help other groups with ideas. I improved on acting a lot since i first started. I have finally acquired the courage to act a little silly in in front of strangers. The film that helped me do this was Gangnam Style Spirit Video. Playing the role of the High School mascot was truly a pleasure. Also the Angry Neighbor videos have helped me to become a better actor. It helped me pull out a personality that I never knew I had. I also feel that I improved tremendously on camera angles. I realize how important different camera angles improve the quality of a film. It makes is more entertaining. For example the characters close up on his socks in The Angry Neighbor. Also, my personal video helped me to improve on camera angles. I don't really have any tips, tricks or how to's for you but you could take a look at Film Riot on youtube. They have a lot of tutorials on how they created their films and are quite entertaining. Another place you could check out is Freddiew on youtube. They have a lot of entertaining series of films and have a behind the scenes video for almost every film. And last but not least, you could always check out theerieproductions on youtube for a chance to see all of our creative films. Overall, i thought the course was good. Somethings that needs improvement is assignment planning. I think it would be better to give the students the new project idea as they are working on their current project. That way it would give the students the ability to brainstorm early on instead of struggling for a film idea when it is assigned. There really isn't anything that I wanted to do in specific. I feel that all the films we did fit into almost all the major categories in film. such as comedy, drama, action, documentary, etc... Some things I would have liked to change was some of the film projects assigned. I would recommend not to assign a documentary film or a film that has to have the sense if time correlated into it. I felt that those two films were disastrous. I don't think you need to improve in anything. You are doing a terrific job. But I will mention one small criticism. Please take into consideration that students have more than just one class and especially with jobs it is hard to work on and finish a film in the time frame given. That is my only compliant. Overall, I loved the course. I love the fact that we actually have a film class unlike other schools. It is great to know that I can share ideas with other people and not feel afraid to be wrong. I really liked the partner projects. They gave us the opportunity to help our group members correct themselves from any mistakes that they might have. It also gave us the ability to befriend the people in the groups and make them feel wanted. My favorite thing that we did was the field trip to Wreck it Ralph. It was extremely fun. I would recommend that you do not go to Roberts bedroom/ studio/ dump/ what ever it is. Maybe he can ask if you know at least one of the 180000000000000000000000 actors that he writes on his wall. Or maybe you'll get a nut and bolt to one of his ancient cameras as a souvenir this time. Hahahaha But anyways, I loved every minute of this year and thanks for making it so special and worth remembering till the day I die. I will truly miss High School and the Filmmaking Class. Thanks so much. It will be extremely hard to stop thinking about all the memories for a very long time.
